Lake Forest Park Civic Club

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Civic Club part of the City of Lake Forest Park’s park system?
No, the Club is private property owned by the home owners in what is known as the “deeded area”.

I own a house in Lake Forest Park, aren’t I automatically a member of the Club?

This is a logical assumption but unfortunately not the case. The Club predates the City by over 35 years and the Club charter is very specific regarding the physical boundaries of the Club’s deeded area. The deeded area of the Club does not always correspond with the City of Lake Forest Park, which was incorporated in 1961.  A series of annexations in the 1990’s expanded the borders of the City significantly, but these annexations have no relationship to the deeded area of the Club.

How can we become members?

Please go to the website, www.lfpcc.org, and find the map under the membership tab. There homeowners can see if their house is likely within the deeded area.  The map is a tool, and not definitive guarantee that every parcel indicated as eligible is eligible.  Final eligibility for any applicant is determined after review of the application and county parcel records.

Can’t the Board just change the Club boundaries? Didn’t this already happen?

No, but there is understandable confusion on this point. In 2012 it was discovered that an inaccurate map of the deeded properties was being used to make determinations on memberships. The Club hired a law firm to determine the actual deeded properties and it was discovered that over 160 homes were incorrectly issued memberships which were not in the deeded area. As a gesture of good faith, and in consideration of the fact that many of these families had received memberships for a substantial number of years or had purchased their homes with the understanding that they were in the deeded area, the Board created a new class of membership for just these home owners to allow them to remain members.

What about Associate Members, they don’t live in the deeded area?
This is true. Years ago, when the Club was struggling to maintain the property and membership was very low, property owners voted to admit a limited number of associates to help bolster the Club and its resources. These members must renew annually, in a timely basis, and when they sell their homes membership will not transfer to the new home owners.

Can I get on a Waiting List to become an Associate Member?
Sadly, no. There has not been a Waiting List in many years.

Can renters within the deeded area join the Club?
Unfortunately not. Club membership is extended to owner-occupied properties only as per the original decision by the property owners—the owners of the Civic Club.

How many guests can I bring?
We allow four guests per membership per visit. Dependents can bring two guests if not with the head of household. All guests must leave when the members leave. Guests may not park on the grounds and must be signed in at the gate. Guests, just like members and dependents, must follow directions from the staff and adhere to the Grounds Rules.

How do we change our membership to include use of the boat ramp?
This is an easy process, although it does include an additional fee.
Watercraft and tow vehicle(s) must be registered in the name of the member, which membership staff will verify.  Please email the membership committee at lfpccmembership@gmail.com

Does the LFPCC test for water quality?

LFPCC does not test for water quality.  This LINK to the State's website for toxic algae monitoring shows most recent results for Log Boom Park, <1 mile north of the Civic Club.
