June 2010 Newsletter:

Upcoming Events:
Movie nights will return to the club this year on Friday, July 9th. On August 13th movie night will include the annual Club campout. These events are great family-friendly fun, and growing in popularity every year. Check the website soon for more details.
The annual Lake Forest Park Civic Club member appreciation picnic will be held August 15th from 12 noon until 2 pm. Mark your calendars! This will be the 29th consecutive appearance of our own Bill Ziebarth, treasurer and Grill-Master.

We are sad to announce that there will be no fireworks show at the Club this 4th of July.

New Rental Program at LFPCC:
What’s a NEMR? We are trying an experiment at the Club. To encourage member fellowship and use of the Club members now may reserve and use the club house at no cost. Yes, FREE. No catch, but there are guidelines outlined below, and remember this is an experiment which will be reviewed in a year.
This new program is for Non-Exclusive Member Rental (NEMR) of the club house only. Members must reserve the club house for events that are non-exclusive; open to the entire membership. Any member that comes to the event may participate. This is not for birthday parties, club meetings, weddings, funerals, anniversaries or any other exclusive event. Members may rent the club house at reduced rates for such events. This is for events like a book reading, a dance, movies, card games, drama class, photographers meet and greet, musicians jam, etc. As long as the door is open to all members and each member can bring up to three guests there is a good chance it can happen at your club house. Remember that guests must park off-site.
Each membership household may sponsor up to one event per month between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm (Sundays and Mondays are excluded). Members can sign up for 1-4 hour blocks of time through the website for non-exclusive functions. We modified the website to include a NEMR request form that is easy to find and includes a calendar to look for open dates. Please provide feedback as our experiment continues so we can adequately review the program. Forms will be available on the website.
Requests will be reviewed on a weekly basis and a response sent by email. Approved events will be posted on the website calendar with sponsoring member’s name and a description of the event (e.g. Joanna Smith, book discussion, 2-4 pm, Tuesday the 22nd). In the occurrence that a requested date is already reserved with a paid rental event the paid rental will take priority; however a scheduled NEMR event cannot be bumped by a paid event. NEMR events will be posted on the website and may be advertised by email or newsletter to the membership. Requests should be made between 2 and 8 weeks in advance and the member-sponsor must remain on site for the duration of the event. Sponsoring members are also responsible for leaving the premises clean and in the proper condition. Please check and website, and inquire if you have any questions!

Easter Brought the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and a Furry Friend to the Club Once Again

The weather cooperated (in a Puget Sound area kind of way) for the egg hunt, and as usual, numerous Club volunteers pulled together to create a fun event for many families in our community.

Safety at LFPCC:

Boat operators require certification! Go to www.parks.wa.gov/boating/boatered.asp for more details; and please do not power-up onto your trailer from the boat ramp.

End of June 2010 News

LFPCC NEWS:

The Club board of trustees’ monthly meeting is open to all members. Please join us. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the clubhouse on the third Tuesday of each month.

Dues notices will be mailed very soon. Fees will be held to the same level as last year with no increases, but remember to renew promptly to assure your club membership.

Remember: Boat operators require certification! Don’t be caught unaware. Go to www.parks.wa.gov/boating/boatered.asp for more information.

Splendid weather is early this year and so is boating season but please, please, do not power-up on to your trailer from the boat ramp. This practice causes sediment build-up behind the ramp that can impede boat access to the lake. Powering up from the ramp could result in the loss of ramp-use privileges for those concerned.

UPCOMING EVENTS;

The annual Easter egg hunt will be on Saturday, April 3rd at 12 noon. Please plan on arriving early for ease of parking and to meet the Easter Bunny!

Comedy Night combines with a Cinco de Mayo party this year. Elliot Maxx and Joe Vespaziani will provide world class comedy. Bring your own adult beverages and food, but remember to sign-up early at http://lfpcc.org/Club+Events/Comedy+Night/default.aspx because this event historically sells-out.

Summer Movie Nights will return to the club in June. Check the website, www.lfpcc.org as summer approaches.
